EKYC 0 Newmains Hammers 0. Newmains Hammers win 5-3 on pens

The SFA National Play Final ended in dissapointment for EKYC, losing out 5-3 on penalties to fellow LFDA side Newmains Hammers. The game ended 0-0, but only because in the last minute Hammers goalkeeper had an outstanding save from a Tommy March drive. Our boys played their usual passing game, with only the finishing ussually provided by the holidaying Sam Hill was missing. The boys left the field bitterly dissapointed, but with praise ringing in their ears from everyone who watched the game, including the match officials, who all said that the best team had lost. That said, we offer our congratulations to Newmains Hammers, and we look forward to locking horns with them again next year. We will now break for 3 weeks holiday, returning to training on Tuesday 17th July.
Starting Line Up; Kinniburgh, McCulloch, Park, Smith, Graham, March, Kelly, Arrol, Hamilton, Gibson & Kerr. Subs. Purves, Crichton & McDonagh
Man of the Match; Darren SMITH

Training Tuesday 19th June

This Tuesday at training we are having a visit from the Rangers Football in the Community coach. He will be putting his boys through their paces in the last session of the season, and working on counter attacking and set pieces. Hopefully we can learn something to take into Sunday's National Cup Final. We will be meeting at Dunedin at the usual time of 6pm and finishing at 8pm.

EKYC 1994 MAKE NATIONAL FINALS

After a long hard day of travel and football we have been rewarded with a place in the National Cup Final.

We left East Kilbride at 7.30 on Sunday morning to make the trip to Galashiels to play on the Netherton pitches. The result of our group section matches were

EKYC 2 Riverside FC (Stirling) 0

EKYC 2 Leven BC (Fife) 0

EKYC 9 Selkirk (D & G) 0

In the semi final we were drawn against the Inverness Clachnacudden Development Squad. We had almost an hour and a half between the last group match and the semi final, and the boys began to feel the effects of 3 games in such a short space of time. An injury to Christopher Park, and illness to Craig Hamilton left us with just 13 fit players for the majority of the day.

The Semi Final result was

EKYC 1 Inverness Clachnacudden 0

A last minute goal from Ryan KELLY put us into the final on Sunday to be held at Ochilview, home of Stenhousemuir FC. Our opponents will be fellow LFDA side Newmains Hammers who beat Wishaw Wycombe Wanderers on penalties in the other semi.

We have yet top be informed of the kick off time on Sunday, so keep your eyes peeled here. We will also be running a coach to the game which will be available to people on a first come first served basis. Lets hope we can turn out in numbers to cheer the boys on in what has been a long and hard fought season. Hopefully now we will be rewarded with some silver wear.

Fundraising Dance on Friday 15th June Cancelled

The fundraising dance due to be held on Friday 15th June at St Andrews Hall, Kittoch Street, East Kilbride has been cancelled due to insufficient ticket sales. Although we have had assistance from sponsor MB Electrics towards the costs of new strips, tracksuits and training kit for next year, we are left with a substantial short fall. Unfortunately this will mean each player being issued with hidden team cards and raffle tickets to fund the items. The dance will be re scheduled early next season, and hopefully there will be a better response.
