Season Extended As EKYC Qualify For Scottish Regional Play Offs
We have been informed by LFDA that due to our form this season, we have qualified for the Scottish Development Associations Regional Play Offs. This is a tremendous achievement in our first year of competative football, and only clubs that finish in the top 2 of their League qualify for the event. Teams from Development Leagues all over Scotland compete in the play offs over the weekend of Saturday 16th/ Sunday 17th June. The event will take place at a top venue and in the past has been at Scottish National Sports Training Centre, Inverclyde, Strathclyde University Pitches, Stirling University Pitches and Heriot Watt University Pitches(the training ground of Hearts FC). The finals take place the following week, Sunday 24th June at Ochilview, the home of Stenhousemuir Football Club. It is essential that everyone continues to turn up and work hard in training, as this will be our stiffest test of the year.
League Title Goes All The Way To Last Day of The Season
This Sunday 27th May, Hamilton Boys Club take on Wishaw WW in the last LFDA game of the season. If Hamilton win, a play off between ourselves and Wishaw WW will take place for the League title. The game takes place with a 1030 ko at Bent 3G Astro on Sunday 27th May. Keep your eye on this sight for an update on the score.

HVV Hollandia Win Trofeo Mediterraneo II
Just a quick update on the winners of the tournament in Spain. HVV Hollandia, who we drew 2-2 in the group stages went on to win the final 2-1. It just goes to show how well we had done to be 2-0 up against them with 4 minutes to go, and then being pulled back. The boys should be proud of their efforts and hopefully we can take that forward into this weeks semi final with Wishaw.

Trofeo Mediterraneo Day 5 - The Final Day
The final day of the trip was spent relaxing in the hotel!!!!, seeing the sights or buying some last minute souvenirs, and then the short flight home to be met by the luxury coach back to East Kilbride. I am sure everyone who attended the tour thoroughly enjoyed the experience, and hopefully we can repeat it again next year. Thanks to everyone who gave up their time, and to those who contributed to making the event the success it was by assisting with bag packing, raffle ticket selling and attending the fund raising discos.
Trofeo Mediterraneo Day 3 - Sunday 8 April 2007
Having failed to qualify and with the weather being in the 70's a much needed day of rest at the beach was what was required.
The boys spent the day on the pedalos, swimming and on the canoes.
Everybody enjoyed a much needed day of relaxation, which was followed by a presentation of the medals on the beach front that night.
Trofeo Mediterraneo Day 2 - Saturday 7 April 2007
The day started with the boys full of confidence, hopeful of making it through to the final stages on Sunday. It was warmer weather on Saturday and it took its toll on the boys. We needed 2 wins in games against the Germans and the poorest team in the group, the French to see us qualify as at least best group runner up.
VFB Asslar (Germany) 0 East Kilbride Youth Club 3
Goal Scorers - Sam HILL(2), Ryan KELLY
We started slowly and had James Kinniburgh to thank for 2 great early saves that kept us in the match. Tommy March then took control of the game, and a great move that Tommy started was finished off by Sam Hill and the nerves began to ease. Another from Sam Hill and a 3rd from Ryan Kelly gave us the win we needed.
Ville d'Istres (France) 1 East Kilbride Youth Club 0
We knew all that was needed from this game was a win and we would be through. The heat, amount of games played and nerves took its toll on the boys as they crashed to a shock 1-0 defeat. A wonder free kick into the top corner from the French number 7 saw us a goal down with 10 minutes to play, and to make matters worse, goalkeeper James Kinniburgh had to leave the pitch after the goal with a suspected broken wrist. Dean Arrol took over in goal, and even though we created a few chances, we never really looked like scoring. The Dutch who had turned up to watch cheered every French pass, which added to the boys frustrations. At the end of the game we failed to qualify by 2 points, finishing 5th overall from 15 teams. The Dutch, who we had let out of jail qualified from as winners from our group, and
went onto WIN the final 2-1.
We finished the day by taking the boys to the crazy golf in an attempt to get their heads up, after having the stuffing knocked out of them by such a shock result.
Fortunately, James did not have a broken wrist, however, he had a bandge placed on it and will not be available for at least 3 weeks.
Trofeo Mediterraneo Day 1 - Friday 6 April 2007
Having arrived late the night before the boys prepared for the first days games with a game of beach volleyball and a dip in the sea. We had a bight to eat and then headed for the fantastic Top Ten Pitches in Torder to prepare for our first game.
Valdorcia (Italy) 0 East Kilbride Youth Club 4
Goal Scorers - Darren SMITH, Sam HILL, Craig HAMILTON & Ryan KELLY
The boys started very strongly and fantastic performances from Ryan Kelly & Simon Purves put us into a strong position in the group with a good early win.
HVV Hollandia (Holland) 2 East Kilbride Youth Club 2
Goal Scorers - Darren SMITH, Gary McCULLOCH
This opposition were a differant class to the first, with players from pro youth sides Ajax and Herenveen, making up th select side from the East of Holland. We took an early lead when Darren Smith scored direct from a free kick, and when Gary McCulloch scored a tremendous second half volley we thought we had pulled off a stunning win, however 2 goals in the last 4 minutes from the Dutch saw them snatch a well desreved draw.
We returned to the hotel satisfied with our results, knowing that 2 wins the next day would see us qualify for the semi finals.

Goal Scorers: Craig Hamilton(2), Sam Hill(2),Darren Smith,Dean Arrol & Ryan Kelly
Starting Line Up:Kinniburgh,March,Park,Gibson,Kerr,Smith,Kelly,Arrol,Hill,Hamilton & Purves. Sub:McCulloch
Man of the Match: Ryan KELLY
The only game to take place in a snowbound East Kilbride today was our 1/4 final Cup tie with league leaders Aston Villa Diamonds. From the start our boys had Villa pressed in their own half and they struggled to get out. With a strong wind behind us we were soon in the lead with a wonder free kick from Darren SMITH. Further quick fire goals from Craig HAMILTON and Dean ARROL had Diamonds rocking and they were on the back foot. We pressed all over them with quick passing and some great movement and further goals from Sam HILL and another from Craig HAMILTON saw us 5-0 at half time. We braced ourselves for the Villa onslaught, but our boys continued to play some great passing footaball, and even into the wind looked like being the only team who were going to score. Further goals from Ryan KELLY and Sam HILL put us 7 up, and it was only good goalkeepeing a puddle in the Diamonds goal mouth that kept the score in single figures. It was our best display of the season considering the strength of the opposition and the weather conditions.

The club would like to thank Baid Ferguson for very kindly collecting on behalf of our team on the North Sea Oil Riggs. Baird has been a regular at our fundraising nights, but unfortunately could not attend the most recent St Valentines Disco due to work commitments, however he took it upon himself to raise a collection from his co workers and raised £70 towards our funds.
We very much appreciate the effort that he has made and thank him very much. Baird and his son Ross were also bidding on signed Henrik Larsson jersey, which shows the commitment they have to supporting the team.

Gangsters & Molls Fundraiser A Huge Success
Last nights St Valentines Disco held in St Andrews Hall, East Kilbride was a great success. Everyone who attended had a great time and contributed significantly towards the costs of our Barcelona trip. A Special thanks goes to John Quinn and the parents of the under 10/11's who made a special effort to be there and boost the numbers in attendance, was it not for them the hall would have been half empty. Thanks John!! The auction items proved a great source of funds with John Quinn bidding on behalf of Gordon Bevaird, and buying the signed Larsson jersey for £500. The Roy Keane jersey was bought for £150, the Rangers jersey £110 and the Celtic jersey had already been sold for £200. A great night, and it was just a pity more of our parents weren't there to enjoy it.

Hamilton are a much improved side from the one that we defeated on the opening day of the season, and we will need to improve on last weeks performance in front of goal to get a result.

Auction Prizes For Dance Revealed
Pictured above the jerseys which are available for auction at the fundraising dance to be held on Friday 9th February.
The 1st is an extremely rare autographed Roy Keane Celtic jersey, with no 16 and name Keane printed on the rear. This jersey was very kindly donated by EKYC president Denny Byrne. The jersey will come framed, which Denny also very kindly paid for.
The 2nd is a Manchester United away jersey signed by ex Celtic and Barcelona superstar Henrik Larsson. The jersey is signed above the crest.
The 3rd is a Rangers jersey signed by the current first team squad and includes the autographs of manageement team Walter Smith & Ally McCoist.
The 4th jersey is a Celtic jersey signed by the current first team squad.
All of the jerseys will be extremely sought after and will hopefully attract more people to attend the dance, for which very few tickets have sold so far.
A publicity photo including the jerseys will be placed in next weeks issues of the EK Mail and the EK News, encouraging local businesses to bid for the jerseys in an effort to raise the much needed cash towards the Barcelona trip.
The dance is a much needed source of income due to the fact that our application for Lottery funding has been turned down. Please make every effort to support the team and attend the dance. YOU WILL ENJOY YOURSELF, I PROMISE!!!
